Park City Excitement!

We just got back from an exciting week in Park City, Utah. We went there for my daughter, Madison's, National Softball Tournament. The family drove up last Sunday. All in all the drive wasn't so bad. We left about 5 am so that the girls would be sleepy, and hopefully snooze for most of the trip. Our plan worked, and my hubby was such a trooper for driving all 7 hours. When we got into town, our condo wasn't quite ready, so we decided to go see a movie. We saw the movie, "Hancock" with Will Smith. Good flick, but a few too many words! After the movie, we got settled into our room and called it a night. The next morning we got started with the softball festivities. The girls were in a skills competition. Madi competed for the fastest running time from home to home. It took her like 12.4 seconds. The fastest time of all the players was like 11.8 or so. She did good, but of course was frustrated with not winning. Later that night, they kicked off the tournament with a parade down Main Street. The whole team went over to the beautiful house where the Stover and Huntley Families were staying. The girls and coaches got all decked out in their costumes for the parade. Being that we are from Las Vegas, our costumes represented our wonderful city. Madison was a dice along with her good friend Megan. Other girls were things like dealers, queen of hearts, rebel girls, and a list of others. The coaches were, Elvis, a bride, a Priest, a tourist, a bellman. A lot of work went into the costumes and it was lots of fun.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we began playing the pool play games. The team won all four of their games. We were the #1 seed going into the double elimination part of the tourney. Early Wed. morning we drove into Salt Lake City and picked up my mom. She had come to join us for the rest of the trip. It was great to have her along for all the action. On Wednesday, we all decided to go tubing down the river. It wasn't exactly white water rafting, but lets just say that the current was a bit fast. It was probably the greatest laughs that we all had. Me, and my mom, Toni, Lisa, Tammy, Jeanie, Mikelle and Tatum were all on the "raft of death" together. I seriously don't know how we survived, but we did, and I am here to write about it. We really did try and row and steer us away from all of the scary trees, rocks, and branches of death, but it was hard work. I can't tell you how many times I hit the deck hard. Great fun, with great friends. The kids and other parents, brothers and sisters all went on individual tubes. We were all told at the begining to stay to the right when it is time to exit the river. Somehow, someway, my whole family, ended up on the left. I wasn't there to see it, but when I arrived at the end, Charles, Madi and Miah were all on the wrong side of the river. I guess Miah got pretty freaked out and there was a bit of a rescue mission involved. This is a picture of the group of us.

The very next day we decided to be even more adventurous! My mom and I went on the fastest, largest, highest, zip-line in the world. Don't ask me how we got the courage up to do this, because I am afraid of heights. But let me just say it was so FUN! Mikelle and Madi did the smaller zipline. Miah was still a bit gun shy because of the tubing incident. This is a picture of Mikelle and I when we got off the smaller zipline. I took a great picture of my mom flying down the zipline. The picture of the green ski jumps is to show you that the ziplines started way at the top where the jumps started. Pretty high, huh!

We ended up going 1-2 in the double elimination part of the tournament, which really did stink. We had a legit chance to win the tourney, and fell flat. After our last games we went over to another house where about 4 families were staying and had our end of the year team party. The coaches gave out awards to the players. Madison received the "Athlete of the Year" award.

On Saturday we had a free day. We started by going back to Olympic Park because the girls wanted to zipline again. The lines were way too long and we had to come up with plan B. We decided to go down to Main Street and ride the ski lift up to the top of the mountain. It was a great scenic ride. Here are some of the pics.

It was a great, great week! The worst part of the trip was coming home to ANTS! Gross! The Pest Control guy, Daniel, just left. Hopefully, it will work. I will keep y'all posted!
